Download a Scan Log Report

Export a Scan Log report to see a history of every ticket ID scanned into your event

Written by Maddy

The Scan Log Report is available for events using the TicketSpice Scanning app. It provides a detailed record of every ticket scan captured at your event. This report includes all scan attempts, both valid and invalid, and lists each ticket ID individually. This report is especially useful when you need to investigate a specific ticket, review scan activity in detail, or analyze individual scan results rather than viewing high-level summaries.

Pro Tip: The Scan Log provides a detailed record of all activity in the Scanning App. It tracks every scan event, including valid and invalid scans, item redemptions, and other ticket-scanning and redemption activity as it occurs.

If you're looking for an overview of valid scans by date, ticket level, or device, we recommend using the Scan Summary Report instead.

Available Fields

Ticket ID

The Ticket ID field generates a unique number for every ticket in TicketSpice. This identifier is assigned at the time of purchase and is not duplicated. The Ticket ID field corresponds to the Ticket ID field in the Tickets Report.

Ticket Level

The Ticket Level column displays the exact ticket level name associated with the scanned ticket.

Scan Type

The Scan Type field shows the type of item that was scanned into the event. This can help you distinguish between standard digital tickets and physical tickets used at the event. Here are the scan types on a Scan Log report.

  • ticket: A standard TicketSpice digital ticket

  • hardstock ticket: A physical hardstock ticket created using the hardstock ticket feature

Scan Result

The Scan Result field shows the outcome of the scan attempt. This can help you identify successful scans, denied entries, reset actions, or scanning issues during your event. Here are the scan results on a Scan Log report.

  • ALREADY_SCANNED: The ticket was already scanned and exceeded the allowed scan limit

  • INVALID_DATE: The ticket was scanned outside of the allowed event date or time slot

  • REDEEMED_ITEMS: A ticket-level item was redeemed. This includes multiple choice items, t-shirts, or quantity box items added directly to the ticket level (rather than the order section)

  • REDEEMED_ORDER_ITEMS: An order-level item was redeemed. This includes merchandise items, multiple choice items, t-shirts, or quantity box items added through the order section

  • RESET: A scan reset action was performed on the ticket

  • VALID: The ticket was successfully validated and scanned into the event

  • WRONG_GATE: The ticket was scanned using an app key that was not configured to scan that ticket level

  • PHOTO_TAKEN: The ticket was successfully scanned and a required attendee photo was captured during entry. Note: the PHOTO_TAKEN result is only used when the ticket level requires a photo in the TicketSpice Scanning App

Scan Date

The Scan Date field shows the date and time the scan occurred. This can help you review attendee entry activity and verify when tickets were scanned into the event.

Device Name

The Device Name field shows the custom name assigned to the device when logging into the TicketSpice Scanning App. This can help you identify which device performed a scan.

Note: Tickets scanned directly from your TicketSpice account will appear under the scanner name Web App instead of a specific device name

Device UUID

The Device UUID field shows the unique identifier assigned to a device after it logs into a specific app key in the TicketSpice Scanning App.

Pro Tip: A device keeps the same Device UUID across scanning sessions, even if the device name is changed when logging into the TicketSpice Scanning App

Page Name

The Page or Event Name column specifies the name of the TicketSpice page where the scanned ticket was purchased.

Why are the scanning numbers different between the Scan Log Report, the Tickets Report, the Scan Summary Report, and the Analytics?

The scanning numbers may differ because each report measures scan activity differently. Some reports count unique tickets, while others count every scan event. Here is how each report tracks scans.

Scan Log

  • Provides a detailed record of all activity in the Scanning App

  • Includes valid scans, invalid scans, item redemptions, and other scanning-related activity

  • Each activity is recorded as its own event, making the Scan Log the most detailed view of scanning activity

Tickets Report

  • Tracks scan activity on a per-ticket basis

  • The Entry Scans column counts every valid scan associated with a ticket

  • The Total Scans column counts all scan attempts associated with a ticket, including successful scans and invalid re-scan attempts after the ticket has reached its scan limit

  • Each scan event is counted individually, so each valid scan and invalid re-scan attempt increases the value in this column, even when the same ticket is scanned multiple times on the same device

Scan Summary Report

  • Counts the daily total of unique tickets successfully scanned on each device

  • A ticket is counted once per device

  • If the same ticket is successfully scanned on two different devices, it is counted twice

  • Multiple valid scans of the same ticket on the same device are counted only once

  • Invalid scans are not included

Analytics (Total Ticket Scans)

  • Counts unique tickets that have been successfully scanned for entry at least once

  • Each ticket is counted only once, based on its first successful scan

  • Additional scans of the same ticket are not included

  • Invalid scans are not included

What time zone are reports based on?

Reports display dates and times based on the local time zone of the device you’re using when pulling the report.
