Sell Cashless, On-Site Products with Mobile Pay Pass

Use Mobile Pay Pass to let attendees pay for concessions, merchandise, and other on-site purchases with the card they already have on file

Written by Alex Thompson

Mobile Pay Pass is a feature that lets you sell products on-site without asking attendees to pull out a card. Attendees opt in to use the card they already saved during checkout, then pay for on-site purchases by scanning the QR code on their ticket and entering a PIN.

This makes lines move faster and keeps your staff from handling payment devices for every sale. In this article, we’ll cover how to turn on Mobile Pay Pass, add your products, create an app key, guide attendees through the purchasing experience, use the Mobile Pay Pass app, and view your reports.

Mobile Pay Pass Pricing

Mobile Pay Pass costs $0.25 per transaction, plus standard credit card processing fees.

Note: Mobile Pay Pass is only available for customers processing in USD and CAD.

Mobile Pay Pass is only available for iOS devices. Download the Mobile Pay Pass App here.

  • Hover your mouse over the Onsite tab in the top menu bar

  • Select Mobile Pay Pass App from the drop-down

Add Your Products

Once Mobile Pay Pass is turned on, you'll add every product you want available for sale on-site. Each product has its own name, price, and optional fee and tax settings.

  • From the Mobile Pay Pass App settings, click Add Product

    • Enter a Name for the product

    • Enter a Price for the product

    • Add a Fee if desired

    • Add a Sales Tax if desired

    • Toggle on Visibility so the product appears in the Mobile Pay Pass app

    • Click Save

  • Repeat these steps for each product you want to sell on this page

Note: We recommend leaving Visibility toggled on for every product you plan to sell. If visibility is turned off, the product will not show up in the Mobile Pay Pass app.

Create an App Key That Accepts Mobile Pay Pass

The Mobile Pay Pass app uses the same app key as the TicketSpice ticket scanning app. This section covers how to create a new key or update an existing one so it works with Mobile Pay Pass.

  • From the Pages screen, click the pencil icon on the page where you want to enable Mobile Pay Pass

  • Hover your mouse over the Onsite tab in the top menu bar

  • Select Ticket Scanning from the dropdown

  • Create a new app key, or select an existing app key to edit

  • Toggle on Use App Key for Mobile Pay Pass App

  • Click Save

  • Click Save Now in the upper-right corner of your page to save your changes. Click Publish to publish these changes to your live page

Attendee Opt In Experience

Attendees opt in to Mobile Pay Pass on their own after they purchase tickets.

  • After purchasing tickets, attendees see the option to opt into Mobile Pay Pass on both the confirmation page and the confirmation email

  • To opt in, ticket buyers select Activate Mobile Pay Pass

  • They can create a four digit PIN they'll use to verify purchases

  • Select Activate

  • After opting in, ticket buyers will receive a confirmation email confirming that their Mobile Pay Pass is active and their 4 digit pin has been created. Attendees use that pin along with the QR code on their ticket to make purchases on-site

Pro Tip: If an attendee forgets their PIN, they can resend it from their confirmation email at any time. When they resend their pin, TicketSpice sends a new email containing their Mobile Pay Pass PIN.

You can view your Mobile Pay Pass sales in the app itself and in several reports inside your account. This section covers each option so you can choose the one that matches what you're trying to see.
