With TicketSpice, you can print professional thermal tickets directly from your computer using a Boca printer. This gives you the flexibility to print tickets for attendees on demand or quickly reprint tickets when needed. In this article, you’ll learn how to customize your ticket layout, connect your Boca printer, and configure your TicketSpice page for ticket printing from a computer.

Warning: When printing Boca tickets from your computer, you must use a Mac device. The Boca printer is not currently compatible with Windows devices.

Note: To print tickets, you must use a compatible Boca printer. TicketSpice is compatible with the Boca Lemur S printers that the required hardware specifications.

Your Boca Lemur S printer must have the required specifications:

300dpi print head
ADJ2, ADJW, or ADJ4 Adjustable Paper Guides
- ADJ2: Supports media widths from 1" to 2" (wristband and ticket printing)
- ADJW: Supports media widths from 2" to 3.25" (ticket printing only)
- ADJ4: Supports media widths from 2" to 4" (ticket printing only)
Recommended: Automatic cutter (otherwise each ticket will need to be individually torn)

Getting Started

From the Pages tab, click the pencil icon on the page you want to edit
Hover over the On-Site tab
Select Boca Printing from the dropdown
Navigate to the Tickets section
Click Edit to create a custom design for your ticket, if desired

Pro Tip: TicketSpice includes a standard ticket design that you can use if desired. To preview what this ticket design looks like for a specific ticket level, select a ticket level from the Ticket Level dropdown in the upper-left corner of the Tickets section.

You can also create a custom ticket design if desired.

Customize Your Tickets

In TicketSpice, you can customize your ticket design to match your event's needs. Using the Ticket Designer, you can add or remove fields, insert dynamic variables, include static text, adjust fonts and alignment, and change the size and position of each field. Select a topic below to learn how to customize each part of your ticket design.

Pro Tip: Check the Ticket Levels preview at the end of your design process to confirm that every ticket level looks good before printing.

Add a New Field

On the Boca Printing screen, click Edit to create a custom design for your ticket
To add a field, click the blue plus icon in the top right corner
Select your desired field type
- Text Field: Adds a text field
- Box: Adds a box field that serves as a border for any of your fields
- Barcode: Adds a scannable barcode
Click Save Design when you've finished customizing your ticket design
Click Save Now in the upper-right corner of your page to save your changes. Click Publish to publish these changes to your live page

Pro Tip: When adding a scannable barcode to your tickets, we recommend adding a QR code if you are planning to scan tickets using the TicketSpice Scanning App.

The other barcode options, Code 128 and Code 39, should only be used if you're familiar with them and intend to create and manage external tickets outside of the TicketSpice platform.

Add a Variable to Your Text Field

On the Boca Printing screen, click Edit to create a custom design for your ticket
Click the text field you want to edit
In the Text dropdown on the right-hand side, select the variable you want to add
- Barcode: Displays the ticket number
- Raffle: Displays the raffle number to the ticket. This field only populates with data if the ticket holder selected a raffle ticket level. If the ticket buyer didn't select a raffle ticket, this field will remain blank
- Number: Displays the ticket number
- Page: Displays the page name
- Level: Displays the selected ticket level
- Price Point: Displays the specific price point the ticket holder selected. This only populates if you're using multiple price points per ticket level
- Name: Displays the ticket holder's name. If your page does not collect a name for each ticket holder, this field automatically displays the billing name instead.
- Event: Displays the ticket buyer's selected event. This only populates with data if you're using a Series of Events pages
- Date: Displays the ticket buyer's selected date. This only populates with data if you're using a Date-Based page
- Time: Displays the ticket buyer's selected time slot. This only populates with data if you're using a page with time slots
- Line 1: Displays different information depending on your page type, ticket level settings, and other configuration options. If you're creating a custom ticket design, we recommend using specific variables instead of the Line 1 field for more predictable results
- Line 2: Displays different information depending on your page type, ticket level settings, and other configuration options. If you're creating a custom ticket design, we recommend using specific variables instead of the Line 2 field for more predictable results
Click Save Design when you've finished customizing your ticket design
Click Save Now in the upper-right corner of your page to save your changes. Click Publish to publish these changes to your live page

Pro Tip: You can add custom text alongside a variable in the same text field or include multiple variables within a single text field.

Add Custom Static Text to Your Field

On the Boca Printing screen, click Edit to create a custom design for your ticket
Click the text field you want to edit
Click the page icon next to the Text dropdown field
Delete the variable content in the text field
Add your custom text
Click Save Design when you've finished customizing your ticket design
Click Save Now in the upper-right corner of your page to save your changes. Click Publish to publish these changes to your live page

Style Your Field

On the Boca Printing screen, click Edit to create a custom design for your ticket
Click the field you want to edit
Style your field as desired
- Font (Text Field Only): Choose a font from FLG Font 1 through FLG Font 16
- Align (Text Field Only): Align your field to the left right, or center. When you align a field center or right, you can also adjust the field size to the length you want
- Scale (Text Field Only): Adjust the size of your field. Larger scale results in a larger field
- Point Size / Version (Barcode Only): Adjust the size of your barcode using the Point Size field. Adjust the style of your barcode with the Version field
- Width/Height (Box Only): Adjust the width and height of your box border
- Border (Box Only): Adjust the thickness of your box border
Click Save Design when you've finished customizing your ticket design
Click Save Now in the upper-right corner of your page to save your changes. Click Publish to publish these changes to your live page

Rearrange and Move Fields on Your Ticket

Click the field you want to edit
Position your fields as desired
- Rearrange Fields: Drag and drop the field to the correct location on the ticket. If desired, you can also manually move your fields by using the Row and Column fields on the right-hand side to manually set where the field sits on the ticket
- Rotation Field: Flip the field 0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees
Click Save Design when you've finished customizing your ticket design
Click Save Now in the upper-right corner of your page to save your changes. Click Publish to publish these changes to your live page

Delete a Field

On the Boca Printing screen, click Edit to create a custom design for your ticket
Click the field you want to delete
Select Delete Object in the bottom right corner
Click Save Design when you've finished customizing your ticket design
Click Save Now in the upper-right corner of your page to save your changes. Click Publish to publish these changes to your live page

Warning: Deleting an object cannot be undone, so proceed with caution.

Set up Your Boca Printer

Follow the setup instructions via the Boca printer manual to set up and add your ticketing paper into the printer
Turn on the printer
Open Google Chrome

Note: Boca is only compatible with Google Chrome. No other browsers are currently supported.

Complete a Test Print from Your TicketSpice Account

After designing your tickets, you can do a test print to make sure that your ticket looks as expected.

On the Pages screen, click the pencil icon on the page where you want to print tickets
Hover over the Onsite tab
Click Boca Printing
Click Print next to the ticket you want to print
Click Print

Manually Print Tickets from Your TicketSpice Account

From the Pages screen, click the pencil icon on the page that you want to edit
Hover your mouse over the Onsite tab
Select Boca Printing
Click the All "Print from Report Detail Pages checkbox
Click Save Now in the upper-right corner of your page to save your changes. Click Publish to publish these changes to your live page

Go back to your main TicketSpice account page
Click the Orders tab
Click the eye icon on the order you want to print

Scroll to the Linked Tickets section
Click the eye icon on the ticket you want to print
Click Print Ticket
Select the Boca printer you want to use
Click Print

How do I add multiple variables to the same line?

Click the text field you want to edit
Click the page icon next to the Text dropdown field
Add your variables by typing the correct tag for each variable

Note: Enter any spaces, punctuation, or text you want to appear between each tag directly into the text field.

How do I add static text and a variable to the same text field in my ticket?

Click the text field you want to edit
In the Text dropdown field, select the variable you want to add
Click the page icon next to the Text dropdown field
Type out the static text you want to add in front of or behind the variable

Can I create different ticket designs for different ticket levels on the same TicketSpice page?

No. Each TicketSpice page supports a single ticket design that is used for all ticket levels on that page. If your page includes multiple ticket levels, the same ticket layout will be applied to each one.

I used Etix and have a Lima printer. Can I use it with TicketSpice?

No. Lima printers used with Etix are not compatible with TicketSpice. TicketSpice supports Bluetooth-compatible Boca Lemur-S printers for mobile printing and USB-connected Boca Lemur-S printers for browser-based printing.

What should I do if I’m having a hardware issue with my Boca printer?
