You can link your printer to a cash drawer for added convenience and security. With this setup, the cash drawer will automatically open whenever a customer pays with cash. If the payment is made by credit card, the drawer remains closed. It’s a simple and secure way to manage cash transactions at your event!

Log In To the Box Office
Open the Box Office app on your mobile device
Enter a Device Name
Enter your Device Zip Code
Enter your App Key found on your TicketSpice page (to find this app key, click here)
Tap Enter
Pro Tip: The device name is for internal and reporting purposes only. This name helps you identify different devices if you're using more than one. You can set the Device Name to anything you'd like — such as "Front Gate Scanner" or "VIP Scanner"

Configure the Box Office App to Work with a Cash Drawer
Pro Tip: Before setting up the Box Office App to work with a cash drawer, make sure your printer is connected to the app first.
To connect your printer, start by pairing it via Bluetooth in your iPad’s settings.
Tap the hamburger icon on the top left corner
Tap Settings
Make sure your printer is connected
Once your printer is connected, tap Configure Printer
Tap your printer
Turn on the options you want to use. Turn on Cash Drawer, as well as the Ticket Printer and Receipt Printer options if desired
Go back to the Settings page
Under the Printers section, tap Cash Drawer
Select the device you would like to use as your cash drawer
Pro Tip: When setting up the cash drawer, we recommend making sure that your Ticket Printer and Receipt Printer are also set up on the correct device. Here is how to set this up

Pro Tip: If the cable connected to your cash drawer has labeled ends, we recommend ensuring each end is correctly plugged into the Star Micronics printer and the cash drawer.
If the cash drawer doesn’t open as expected after a cash payment, try switching the cable ends to see if that resolves the issue.
To connect your cash drawer, plug in one end of the supplied cable into the bottom of the cash drawer
Plug in the other end into the back of the printer
Test a cash transaction in the Box Office App to confirm that the cash drawer works as expected

Right now, the cash drawer only opens during a completed sale. It will not automatically open when an order is canceled. If you need to give cash back for a canceled cash order, we recommend using the key to manually open the drawer.
