Swipe credit cards onsite using a Magtek reader connected to the Box Office app

You'll need three things to get started:

  1. An iPad (or iPhone) with the Box Office app installed

  2. A reliable wifi connection

  3. A Magtek credit card swiper (purchased through TicketSpice)

Here is how to connect the Magtek swiper to the Box Office app:

  • Plug the Magtek swiper into your iPad using the lightning port

  • Open the TicketSpice Box Office app

  • Tap on the three bars in the upper left hand corner

  • Tap on Settings

  • The iPad should automatically detect that the Magtek swiper is connected and should display with a green checkmark


That's it! Easy as pie! 🥧 Happy scanning!

NOTE: If you plan to use Magtek swipers, you'll need to rent or purchase them through TicketSpice, as they are custom encrypted to work specifically with our software. Magtek devices purchased elsewhere will not be compatible.

Q: Do extension dongles work wih Magtek credit card readers?

A: We have found that extension dongles typically do not work with Magtek credit card swipers.

Q: Where can I rent or purchase a Magtek credit card swiper?

A: The only Magtek credit card swipers that are compatible with TicketSpice are ones that are rented or purchased through TicketSpice directly. This is due to them needing to be specially encoded in order to work.

Q: Can i use a Magtek credit card reader with a device that has a USB-C plug?

A: At this time, all of our Magtek credit card readers are only compatible with lingtning ports, not USB-C.
