Fraud Protection helps you stop fraudulent purchases before they are processed on your TicketSpice page. Starting on September 15, every transaction processed through Webconnex Payments is automatically evaluated for risk, and transactions that appear fraudulent are declined before the order is ever completed.
Fraud prevention is a balancing act. You want to stop bad transactions without getting in the way of legitimate ticket buyers trying to check out. Webconnex Payments Fraud Protection puts that decision in your hands by letting you choose how aggressively transactions are evaluated, and you can raise or lower that level at any time as your needs change.
Pro Tip: Webconnex Payments Fraud Protection is only available for customers processing on Webconnex Payments.
If you are currently using a third-party payment processor and would like to offer advanced fraud protection, we recommend adding a new Webconnex Payments processor, and switching your pages to this processor. Click here to learn how to add Webconnex Payments to your account.
Note: Starting September 15, every eligible account is automatically set to our recommended Fraud Protection level of 25. You do not need to take any action, but you can adjust your level at any time if a different setting works better for your event.

How Webconnex Payments Fraud Protection Works
Before adjusting your settings, it is helpful to understand how Webconnex Payments decides whether a transaction is fraudulent. This section covers how transactions are scored, how that score is compared against your settings, and where your Fraud Protection level is pulled from.
Webconnex Payments evaluates all transactions submitted on your event pages
Each transaction receives a risk score between 0 and 100, representing how likely that transaction is to be fraudulent
That score is compared against your Fraud Protection Strength, which reflects how much risk you are willing to accept
Transactions that exceed your Fraud Protection level are declined automatically and the order is never completed
Transactions that fall within your Fraud Protection level continue through checkout as normal
Pro Tip: Raise your Fraud Protection level if you are seeing more suspicious activity and want to take a more cautious approach. Lower it if you are seeing legitimate ticket buyers declined and want a more flexible setting. Based on our testing across Webconnex Payments accounts, we recommend 25 as the best balance between stopping fraud and keeping legitimate purchases moving through checkout.
Customize the Fraud Protection Level on Your Pages
From the Pages screen, click the pencil icon on the page you want to edit
From the top menu bar, hover over the Settings tab
Select Basic Setup from the dropdown
Use the slider to adjust the strength of your fraud prevention. Lower settings allow more transactions, while higher settings block more potentially fraudulent transactions but may create additional friction for legitimate customers
