The SMS Reminder Message feature makes it easy to send timely text messages to your attendees before or after your event. You can fully customize when the message is delivered, whether it’s a few days in advance to share important details or a follow-up message after your event to keep attendees engaged. This tool helps you stay connected with your audience and ensure they have the information they need.

Text Message Reminder Pricing

To use the SMS Text Reminder message feature, you must have an SMS plan set up for your TicketSpice account. The text messaging feature comes at an additional cost. Click here to learn how to sign up for a text messaging plan.

You can use the SMS reminder feature in a variety of ways to keep your attendees informed and engaged. For example, you might:

  • Send parking information for an event one day before the event start

  • Remind people their time slot is ending three hours after their time slot's start time

  • Send a discount code six hours before the event for attendees to invite a friend for a discount

  • Invite attendees to fill out a post-event survey two days after the event

  • Send a link to purchase tickets for next year's event twelve hours after their time slot

Customize Your SMS Reminder Message

After creating your reminder message, you can customize and send it to your attendees. The customization options for SMS reminders differ depending on whether your page includes time slots or not. Here is how to set up SMS reminders for both page types.

Customize a Reminder Message - Pages Without Time Slots

  • Add a Campaign Name for your reminder message. This is for internal and reporting purposes only

  • Select the TicketSpice Page(s) you want to send the reminder message to

  • If you send the text to a single page, add Filter(s) to only send your reminder text to specific people

    • Ticket Level (available on Standard, Date-Based, and Event Series pages): Send your text only to attendees who purchased tickets for specific ticket level(s)

    • Event Date / Selection (available on Date-Based and Event Series pages): Send your text only to attendees who purchased tickets for a specific event date or selected event. If your event includes multiple dates, you can filter by Date Range or target attendees based on whether their selected event takes place before or after a certain date. NOTE: The event date filter refers to the date the attendee plans to attend the event, not the date they purchased their ticket

    • Order Date (available on all pages): Send your text only to attendees who purchased tickets within a specific date range. You can filter by Date Range or target attendees based on whether they purchased tickets before or after a specific time. Note: This filter is based on the date the order was placed — not the date the attendee plans to attend the event

Pro Tip: The filtering option goes away when you send a text message to multiple pages. Filters are only available when you select one page per text message.

  • Choose when you'd like your text message to be sent. You can set the message to go out a specific number of days before or after your event, and select the exact time the text will be delivered

  • Enter the Message you'd like to send. As you type, a sample text message on the right will update in real time to show you a preview

  • Click Send a Test Message to send a test message to a phone number of your choice

  • Click Schedule Campaign

Note: On standard TicketSpice pages, you must set an event start date and time zone on your page before sending a SMS reminder message. If you do not add an event start date to your page, you will see this message when customizing your reminder message: "Set your event start date and time zone before sending a reminder message." If you see this message, we recommend setting your event start date and time zone.

  • Hover your mouse over the Settings tab in the top menu bar

  • Under the Event Start Date tab, enter or update your event start or end date

  • Add the time of your event (by default, the time is 12AM)

  • Click Save Now in the upper-right corner of your page to save your changes. Click Publish to publish these changes to your live page

Manage Your SMS Reminder Message

Note: While a reminder text has a status of Scheduled, you can view, copy, edit, send a test and delete the message.

But once a text message is sent, you are no longer able to send a test, make edits or stop it from sending. You can only copy and view the text message. When a text has sent, you can then see how many recipients were sent the message, and what time the text was sent.

Warning: Deleting a text message cannot be undone. So proceed with caution.

  • From the Pages screen, click Text Messaging in the top menu bar

  • Select the Reminder Messages tab on the left-hand side

  • Find the text message you want to manage, and click any of the following icons:

    • The duplicate icon allows you to copy a previous message to send again

    • The pencil icon allows you to edit the text

    • The eye icon allows you to view the text

    • The phone icon allows you to send a test message to a number of your choice

    • The trash can icon allows you to delete the text

Pro Tip: You can search for your text in the Search bar or filter your texts by the Page, Status, or Date!

FAQs

Reminder messages are included in your Text Messaging plan and follow the same pricing structure. With Text Messaging, you can choose from several plan options. Each plan allows you to select your own phone number and send texts to up to 30,000 recipients per page. Below are the available text messaging plans.

  • A one-time $49 brand verification fee charged by the carriers

Super Sender Plan

Is there a limit to how many recipients I can send an SMS Reminder Message to?

Yes, SMS Reminder Messages can send up to 30,000 recipients per campaign.

How far out can I send SMS Reminder Messages for an event?

For events without time slots, SMS Reminder Messages can be scheduled 0-59 days before or after the ticket time, at the time of day you specify.

For events with time slots, SMS Reminder Messages can be scheduled 0-59 minutes or hours before or after the ticket time.

Will people receive a SMS Reminder Message if they purchase tickets after I create the message, but before the text sends?

Yes, if you create an SMS Reminder message that is scheduled for the future, this text will send to people who purchase tickets between the time you create the reminder text message and the time the text is scheduled to send.

Before the text is sent, the system checks every five minutes to check for any new orders that fit the criteria, and adds these attendees to the list of recipients.

Why can't I filter my Reminder Message to only send to specific ticket levels?

SMS Reminder Messages can only be targeted to specific ticket levels if you select a single page. If you’ve chosen multiple pages in one setup, filtering by ticket level won’t be available. To send messages to specific ticket levels, we recommend creating a reminder message to one TicketSpice page.

What counts as a single text message?

A single text message includes up to 160 characters. TicketSpice allows you to send text messages that are longer than 160 characters. If your message exceeds 160 characters, it will be billed as two (or more) messages, depending on the total character count.

Text message character count includes message text, account name and opt-out language. The organization name will only send in the first text message and will not be included in the following messages.

How do my attendees know the Reminder Messages is from me?

On the first text message you send, our system includes the name of your account at the top of the message as it’s listed in your Organization Details. Here is how to view and update this account name if desired:

  • From the top menu bar, hover over the Gear icon in the top right corner

  • Select Organization Details from the dropdown

  • Click Edit Settings

  • View or adjust the Company Name as desired

  • Click Save

Can I send emoji's in my reminder message?

No, emojis are not supported right now in the text messaging feature.
